Week 5 Fantasy Flames

For the first time this season we are adding a fantasy flames segment to our page as made famous by Yahoo Sports. Our picks will be made based on PPR (1 pt) settings. No league start % requirements. Passing Stats: 25 yards per point. 6 for TD -2 for INT.

Flames:

Eli Manning, NYG, QB:

Manning has been playing lights out this season. (despite poor clock management) He’s owns a 7:1 TD:INT Ratio through four games. This week he faces a very burnable San Francisco secondary. I think he has his best fantasy week to date.

Prediction: 27-37 322 yards 3 TD 0 INT 30.2 Points

Melvin Gordon, SD, RB:

It’s been an up and down start to his career so far. He’s rushed for as many as 88 yards and as low as 38 yards in a game this year. This week he faces a Pittsburgh defense who has been relatively good against the rush however gave up 150 yards to Justin Forsett last week. Baltimore was a terrible running team up to that point. Phillip Rivers will help stretch the field for Gordon this week as he surpasses 100 rushing yards for the first time in his career with his first TD.

Prediction: 18 rushes 112 yards, 1 reception 8 yards, one TD. 18 Points.

Dion Lewis, NE, RB:

He’s a swiss army knife at the RB position. A great player to own in PPR leagues. He keeps it going at Dallas this week.

Prediction: 10 rushes 40 yards, 5 receptions 80 yards, one TD. 23 Points

C.J. Spiller, NO, RB:

New Orleans has been promising to get Spiller more involved all season. Even up until OT last week it hadn’t really happened. He had 2 rushes for 10 yards to go with 4 receptions for 19 yards when we caught a wheel route for an 80 yard walk off TD. That changes things with Spiller going forward.

Prediction: 5 rushes 18 yards, 6 receptions 56 yards, one TD. 19.4 Points

Mike Evans, TB, WR:

After missing week one and playing a decoy roll in week two he’s been quiet. He had a 7-101 line at Houston in week three but it came on a whopping 17 targets. Week four he was shut down by Josh Norman all day going 3-38. He gets an underrated Jacksonville defense in week five but still has a big game.

Prediction: 8 receptions 134 yards, one TD. 27.4 points.

John Brown, ARI, WR:

I’ve liked John Brown all season. Unfortunately he’s been a better real life player than fantasy. It changes this week in Detroit. He finally breaks out.

Prediction: 5 receptions 122 yards, one TD. 23.2 Points.

SHOCKER SPECIAL: (owned in less than 10% of leagues)

Jamison Crowder, WAS, WR:

People raved about this fourth round rookie out of Duke all preseason. He’s a quick shifty WR who can do big things with the ball in space. With Andre Roberts in the dog house, Desean Jackson and Jordan Reed injured he will be in for lots of volume which will equal a big week.

Prediction: 8 receptions 78 yards, one TD. 21.8 Points.

Thanks for reading. Hope this helps some of you with your lineups this week.
