Celtics Win Big; Snap Three Game Losing Streak

FINAL: Celtics: 113 Timberwolves: 99

The Celtics have been struggling for about a week. Lack of ball movement and aggressiveness has been a big part of that. Monday night they put it all behind them. Without two of their big men in Amir Johnson (Plantar Fasciitis) and Jared Sullinger (Back Spasms) the Celtics got a convincing win. Kelly Olynyk and David Lee each started in this one. Olynyk finished with 19 points on 7 of 10 shooting while Lee scored 13 (5-11 shooting) also adding 8 rebounds. Two players who got the biggest bump in minutes and provided the biggest spark were Tyler Zeller and Jonas Jerebko. They each made a case for more playing time in the near future. Zeller finished with 14 points (7-10 shooting) with 8 rebounds. Jerebko scored 12 on (4-7; 3-3 3 pt shooting) adding 7 boards. Overall it was a very balanced attack. Crowder scored 18 with 10 boards, Bradley scored 13 points, Turner added 10 assists. Thomas only scored 8 on 3 of 9 shooting but filled up the stat sheet adding 7 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals. R.J. Hunter contributed 7 points including a halfcourt buzzer beater to end the first quarter.

On the Minnesota side impressive rookie Karl-Anthony Towns double doubled again scoring 25 points with 16 rebounds. Andrew Wiggins scored 26 points.

Kevin Garnett in potentially his last NBA game in Boston sat this one out due to the second game of a back to back. I happened to be at the game last night and I have to say this made it more enjoyable. KG hasn’t played a ton of minutes this season so we didn’t miss a ton on the court. However the “We Want KG” chants throughout the building the whole night were awesome. With a couple minutes left during a timeout he acknowledged the Boston fans and it was truly incredible.

The Celtics take on the 15-12 Hornets in Charlotte on Wednesday night. They look to sweep them in their own building.
